Dear member:
This letter follows our policy of trying to keep Club members informed of all activities taking place in the Club.
Starting the 2nd of May we will start with the hollow tining, gravelling and seeding of the greens and aprons and for this reason these areas will not be in optimum condition for playing golf for 8 to 10 days. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May we will be using provisional greens in order to help the maintenance staff. As from the 5th of May the flags will be replaced on the greens.
At the end of February weed killer was applied in specific areas around the course, especially on the aprons and the tees in order to eradicate undesirable weeds and in order to control the expansion of others which are difficult to eliminate. This treatment means that the course is not in good condition at the moment but without it the improvement of the course in the future would not be possible. This spraying does not mean the elimination of all the weeds but it does mean that there will be a substantial improvement of all the surfaces. In order to continue with our project of improvement of the aprons to the greens, besides the usual scarifying which takes place in Spring and Autumn, we will do this twice more in between Spring and Autumn in order to improve the texture of the land surface. We will also do this in 2019.
Although we understand that this work is a nuisance for players, we hope that you understand that it is really necessary in order to improve the course. Without this treatment, in the not too distant future we would have to undertake much more aggressive and undesirable measures. Please accept our apologies.
The work on the improvement of the men’s showers has been completed.
The following golf competitions will take place in Altorreal during the month of May:
11th of May: AUDI CUATTRO CUP Competition. The enrolment for this competition will take place as from the 4th of May. The competition will be played under the system Pairs Scramble Stableford and at the time of creating the pairs we will inform you that the sum of the handicaps of the 2 team members cannot exceed 56 and the difference between the handicaps of each member of the team cannot exceed 20.
17th and 18th of May: MERCEDES DIMOVIL Competition. This year, following the initiative of the Mercedes dealer, two competitions will be held each independent of the other. The prize giving, however, will take place for both competitions on the 18th of May in the evening in the Club. The reason for the two competitions is due to the saturation of the course and the number of competitors who could not play in the past as there was no room.
We would like to thank the Huertas Group Automoción for giving their confidence to the Club for the organization of these events and for the economic and human effort that takes place.
Golf Altorreal has also come to an agreement with the Montalt Group, which is one of the most important companies dedicated to the automobile industry. They are recent arrivals in Murcia and they will be commercializing BMW and MINI cars. We wish them all the best.
In relation to this, on the 16th of April the Murcia Premium competition will be held in the Club. This competition is not part of the BMW Circuit and is completely sponsored by Montalt through their authorized dealer in Murcia. In 2019 Altorreal will be part of the BMW Circuit.
