Dear club member,
With this newsletter we wish to inform you, at this most difficult time for us all, of all the up to date news from Altorreal Golf Society.
Firstly, and most important, we wish to express our sincere wishes that you and your family find yourselves in good health. We are firmly convinced that we will safely overcome the present situation in the not too distant future.
We wish to inform you that the Club’s installations are all closed due to the Emergency Situation (Estado de Alarma) dictated by the Central Government of Spain. We do not know, for the moment, how long this situation will persist, but we feel pretty sure that it will last all the month of April.
This situation has been a true disaster for the Society and we do not know what economic impact it will have on the Club’s finances. To affront this situation, we have been obliged to implement the following measures:
- We have been obliged to implement an “ERTE” (Temporary lay-off of staff) to all members of the staff who do not belong to the ground-keeping team.
- We have asked for an official reduction and payment deferral for all taxes related to our activity.
- We have asked, through The Spanish Association of Golf Courses, the Competent Authorities, that should there be a complete prohibition of non-necessary activities in Spain, we will be allowed to continue with the course maintenance so that all will not be lost.
- We have also had to take a series of lesser measures in order to ease the economic and social impact that this crisis may produce.
In what refers to the payment of the maintenance fees by Club Members and Subscribers (Abonados) we have taken the following decision which we think is the best for both the Club and the Members themselves.
On the 1st of April, the Society will issue the receipt for the total amount of the maintenance fee, in the same way and for the same amount as the last.
The Club will then compensate the whole amount of what was paid for April in the green fees charged. This compensation will have an expiry date fixed for the 31/12/2020.
Should the Emergency Situation be applicable for longer than the month of April, we will get in touch with you once again.
The course itself is in perfect condition at the moment as there is no damage through use and we hope to be able to reopen with everything in optimum condition.
All the work programmed for the month of June has been brought forward, such as the hollow tining and re-seeding, and also the reconditioning of the tees. This work is being executed at this moment and other lesser important work will be undertaken during the month of April.
For the moment we have suspended all the competitions which were programmed, and we will let you know at a later date the re-adjusted Competition Calendar.
With no more information for the moment, all that remains is for us to do, is to ask you all to be extremely careful, to look after yourselves properly, both yourself and your family. We hope to see you as soon as we can on the 1st tee, playing a wonderful game of golf with your friends, and enjoying a beer on the terrace of the clubhouse.
